Things people ask us about our bike tours

The minimum number of people for us to run a tour is usually two. However, we will run a tour for one person if you would pay a small supplement to cover our costs. The supplement is GBP 15 for a city tour and GBP 25 for a Coast and Bridges Tour.

If you prefer to bring your own bike and would like to join one of our guided tours we will offer you a discount of £5 off the tour price.

We will try to fix your bike if anything goes wrong or you get a puncture. If we can’t fix it within a reasonable time, we will try to get another bike to you or return you to the office.

Our office is open half an hour before the tour start time. There is not always someone in the office. Please phone or email in advance if possible to arrange a tour.

Choose a tour that suits your fitness, we have several tours to choose from of different lengths. We take a gentle pace and make a lot of stops. There are a few hills, but most of the time we are on fairly flat ground.

Yes, Edinburgh Bike Tours has liability insurance. We suggest you have your own travel insurance, that covers cycling, if you are not a UK citizen.

Yes, we can arrange private tours to suit your needs. Read our information on custom and private tours and then contact us to discuss your requirements.

When you book a tour you are sent an email which has a link enabling you to cancel or to amend your booking details. If you cancel within 72 hours (3 days) of the tour start date you will not receive any refund. If you cancel before that we will refund you, but will charge a GBP 10 per person admin fee. If you wish to change the tour or day we can do that for a GBP 5 per person admin fee.

We recommend you bring suitable clothing for cycling whatever the weather. We will operate the cycle tour even if it rains.

Bring a jacket, gloves and clothes you don’t mind getting wet.

Check the individual tour pages for information on tour length.

Great ride around beautiful Edinburgh and to Portobello

Super friendly efficient service. Kathy was so helpful in arranging our booking. Our guide was just lovely, Sandrine, who was so knowledgeable and friendly made the experience really good. COVID-19 responsible and we couldn’t have asked for a better travel bike tour experience. Such a fab way to see the city and more! Thank you

When we last visited and took the city centre tour the coast and bridges tour was recommended. As expected, tours aren’t back to full operation so we contacted Kathy to see whether there was a possibility of running this and she kindly arranged our own tour. This is a beautiful ride along the coastline of…
