All our tours start and finish at our office in Leith. The address is 12C Timberbush, Leith. See a map here. You can take a bus to the office from the centre of Edinburgh. Bus 16 or 22 are best, it takes 20 minutes from Princes Street to Leith. See Lothian buses for bus times and routes.

Yes, please book in advance. You can book on line on our web site or call or email to make a booking. We do not advise just turning up - please phone or email in advance. And we ask that all payments are made in advance through our web site.

Yes. Your booking is not confirmed until we have received your payment. You will be prompted to make a secure online payment when you book your tour.

When you book a tour you will be prompted to pay online using our secure third-party payment system. Our payment system accepts Visa, Mastercard and American Express cards. If you are booking a custom tour, we will send you an invoice by email which will contain a link to take you to a secure dashboard where you can pay.

We have hybrid bikes suitable for cycle tracks and roads. A range of sizes is available.

Guidelines on bike sizes for adults and children

The tables below provide guidelines on the bike size that will suit you.

We also have child seats which can be fitted to any adult bike. These are suitable for children between about 1 and 4 years old.

Our 'tagalong' bikes are attached to an adult bike and are suitable for children under 8 who do not want to ride by themselves.

We are not currently hiring out our bikes. 

Bring suitable clothes, gloves, hat, rain coat etc. The bikes have racks so you can strap a small bag to the bike.

Our short tour is suitable for children aged 5 and over who can cycle for two hours with breaks. We have tag-a-long bikes and child seats for younger children - these must be booked several days in advance as we have only limited numbers. Our longer tours may be suitable for older children who are strong cyclists, please ask. Children under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

We have a small selection of children's bikes. Please ask us.

If you prefer to bring your own bike and would like to join one of our guided tours we will offer you a discount of £5 off the tour price.

We recommend you bring suitable clothing for cycling whatever the weather. We will operate the cycle tour  even if it rains.

Bring a jacket, gloves and clothes you don't mind getting wet. 

When you book a tour you are sent an email which has a link enabling you to cancel or to amend your booking details. If you cancel within 72 hours (3 days) of the tour start date you will not receive any refund. If you cancel before that we will refund you, but will charge a GBP 10 per person admin fee. If you wish to change the tour or day we can do that for a GBP 5 per person admin fee.



Yes, we can arrange private tours to suit your needs. Read our information on custom and private tours and then contact us to discuss your requirements.

Yes, Edinburgh Bike Tours has liability insurance. We suggest you have your own travel insurance, that covers cycling, if you are not a UK citizen.

Choose a tour that suits your fitness, we have several tours to choose from of different lengths. We take a gentle pace and make a lot of stops. There are a few hills, but most of the time we are on fairly flat ground.

Our office is open half an hour before the tour start time. There is not always someone in the office. Please phone or email in advance if possible to arrange a tour.

We will try to fix your bike if anything goes wrong or you get a puncture. If we can't fix it within a reasonable time, we will try to get another bike to you or return you to the office.

The minimum number of people for us to run a tour is usually two.

However, we will run a tour for one person if you would pay a small supplement to cover our costs.The supplement is GBP 15 for a city tour and GBP 25 for a Coast and Bridges Tour.
